Good morning! I hope you all had a nice weekend. Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.
First a little storm update. If you missed yesterday’s post, thankfully the 30A area of Florida was spared from Helene, but I know many weren’t so lucky. The devastation is unreal and widespread, and we are praying for everyone impacted by Helene around the entire South. We are praying for comfort, safety and strength during the ongoing rescue operations, recovery, clean-up and long road to rebuilding ahead. It’s such a scary situation that has impacted so many people.

Home Projects & Updates
You guys! Our wallpaper is done! The installers arrived Monday around lunch time and had all three bathrooms done by around 7 that evening. I am loving it so much!
I have a full post ready for you tomorrow showing all three spaces, but here is a little sneak peek of our powder bath wallpaper that I shared on Instagram. I smile so big when I walk by each of the rooms now!
I also got our front porch ready for fall, in case you missed my post on Fall Front Porch Ideas.
OUR FALL FRONT PORCH SOURCES: Wreath | Striped Rug | Jute Rug | Planter | Copper Gas Lanterns | House Color: Sherwin Williams Greek Villa | Door Color: Sherwin Williams Niebla Azul
With our travels and recently semi-weird weather we’ve been having (but also because of my burnout from watering) some of our planters out back weren’t looking so hot. I had cleaned one out two weeks ago, but I cleaned up a few more yesterday. I’m hoping I can bring my little lime bush back to life! But it is a bit sad to look out back now and not see all my flowers! But, since we do have seasons here and the winters can get cold, many of these wouldn’t have survived much longer regardless.
My kumquat topiaries are doing great though! The kumquats are everywhere, so now I just need to learn what you can do with them other than admire their prettiness 😉
In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past week, in case you missed some days!
Around Town & For Fun
We spent much of the earlier part of the week in hurricane and storm prep mode. It was all a bit new to us, and we like to be prepared. Once we knew we were in the clear, we also got word that a friend was trapped in Asheville, NC so we tried to search for resources to get him out. He had no cell service and the hotel he was at didn’t have land lines, water, food, anything. Thankfully he was able to get out after two days and return home to his family! But so many people in that area still need our prayers and support.
Several of our friends evacuated mid-week with the uncertainty of how we would be impacted. But once it was all clear they returned and we had our usual Friday night get together after dinner. My friend Louise snapped this pic of me and one of her daughters. The girls speak French (their dad is from France) so we were trying for a perfect score on Duolingo 😉
Speaking of Duolingo, I hit a 300 day streak with my Spanish lessons! I actually have shocked myself that I have stuck with it so long. There have been a few nights when I was scrambling to get a lesson in before midnight so I didn’t lose the streak. But, I’m definitely loving their system and can’t believe how much I’ve learned in 300 days!
Saturday morning, Kurtis and I hopped on our bikes early and headed down to Alys Beach for breakfast at Raw & Juicy. I *almost* needed a sweatshirt!
Sunday we tackled some chores around the house and then headed to Camp Creek for lunch and an hour or so out by the pool. It was still pretty windy out from the storm. We always forget how infrequently it is windy here until it happens and then we remember it exists. Basically the exact opposite of when we lived in Nebraska, where it seemed to be windy every day! We’re really planning to take advantage of the pools and beach over the next month. October is always a favorite month here for locals because the crowds die down and the temperatures and days are typically gorgeous!
We ended the weekend with sushi for dinner followed by a golf cart ride with our friends. The rides are such an enjoyable way to get outside and end the weekend!
Our friends and goddaughters arrive this week from Omaha to spend a week with us! We’re really looking forward to their arrival! We’ll also be celebrating our goddaughter’s 4th birthday while they’re here. She has specifically requested a mermaid Elsa party (with a bounce house and an Elsa castle). So…. she might be a little disappointed on those last two requests. But hopefully the beach will make up for her lack of castles 😉
