I completed another Photoshop miracle today. Because you all know I am so good at making the afters look realistic 😉 Although after my last ‘remodel’ attempt I think the husband was nearly convinced to let me paint the cabinets white. They must not be as bad as he originally thought {remember the bonus room}!
Our living room today {complete with clutter and yet-to-be-wrapped Christmas gifts}. But, let’s face it – it makes for a much more dramatic before and after shot!
And the after complete with couches that should be arriving in about two weeks {we ordered them back around the time of the dining table} as well with work we would like to try and do to the mantle {but the TV would stay – I just forgot that part in my rendering}. If you remember, we started our planning process on built-ins here. I think it would also help to tie in our board and batten walls and ground the room better.
The inspiration comes from this photo I found on Pinterest:
The couches are the result of nearly a year of searching {they are the Bernhardt Whitfield}. Our old ‘new’ furniture has been destroyed by the cats {in fact I’m not even sure we can sell it on Craig’s List} so we had a few requirements for the new stuff {we are still searching for chairs we can both agree on}: no pillow backs, no cording, easy to clean fabric, long enough for the husband to lay on, neutral, feather down rather than poly fill {to prevent all the cat smooshing} and comfortable {obviously}. So, let’s just say that it was REALLY hard to find something we liked that wasn’t super modern or was actually somewhat stylish. We found these back on Memorial Day with my parents and thought about them for nearly five monthly before pulling the trigger. They are very traditional but with the ability to change out pillows I think they will work out perfectly! The upholstery is a neutral herringbone pattern that I love.
The couches are part of the reason we moved our TV above the fireplace – I really needed some symmetry and knowing we had two identical couches coming, I wanted them facing each other – which required the television move.
I would ultimately expect our layout and furniture placement to look something like this from Urban Grace Interiors.
Our next search {which we are finding may take a decade rather than year} is for two chairs. The husband wants leather recliners but they have to be tall enough for him. I am unwilling to negotiate on certain style factors and the only ones we can agree on our way out of our price range. Apparently, style and comfort do not co-exist in the leather chair world.
