We opted to delay the beadboard island project until my dad is in town for Easter – he is the beadboard master and know he can help us to make it look as good as possible.
So, the husband told me I could pick a project for him to work on. One involved framing out our mirror in our bathroom with some really wide casing boards. It is all built and looks amazing – I just have to paint it now. He did a great job! Once it is painted and hung I will show you pictures.
The big project of the weekend was doing board and batten in our entryway/hallways. I have also heard this called mission style wainscoting so I am not sure which is the appropriate term. We had to rip out our baseboards {because they were not wide enough and we also wanted something taller} and then add vertical boards and then horizontal boards on the top {to save money, we did not add board in between and we used MDF vs. stain grade wood – the wall will serve as the “board” – so everything from the top point down will be painted white including the wall}. We still have a LOT of work left on this project but I think we made great progress. I think we are a great building team. Here are some shots of our progress.
