Tile Opinions

I will soon have to make a decision and need some tile opinions!

Our house is currently a disaster zone of epic proportions I can’t even {or don’t want to } fully comprehend.  Our hardwood floor job has been delayed again {really all that has been done is the sledgehammering of our tile in our kitchen and entryway}.  Let’s just say there is a thick coat of dust on everything, regardless of how much I dust or vacuum.  Thankfully this is all temporary and will hopefully be worth it in the end.

Choosing Kitchen Backsplash

My dad has agreed to help me tile our kitchen blacksplash when he is here in September {the current backsplash matches our tile that has now been demolished}.  I know I want white ceramic tile or Carrera {or similar} marble.   I have three months to decide and here are the leading contenders:

White Subway – the original ‘only’ option but I am worried it is overdone now:

A white kitchen with hardwood floor, and pendant lamp above the island.
White subway tile in kitchen with a dark brown island and a white marble top.

White Moorish Tile {this is actually the cheapest alternative via Overstock} – the one I am currently leaning towards.  I would do this with white grout so that the shape isn’t as dramatic:White tile behind the stove in the kitchen.

White tile with a pot filler and a stove in front of it.
The sample tile.

Carrera Marble subway tile – my least favorite, but it may help to make the white kitchen not quite so monotone:

Carrera Marble tile, a farmhouse sink, and white cabinets in the kitchen.

Here are my newest mock-ups with the various options.  I guess it also gives away our latest paint color {Benjamin Moore’s Healing Aloe}.  Don’t worry – it isn’t quite so saturated or bright in real life – this is the paint chip overlay.  First I will show you the inspiration photo for the color from Caitlin Creer that I previously mentioned {the kitchen above with the Moorish Tile is in the same home} – the paint is the same as I used – a better representation than how it appears below.  See the full room here:

On to the Photoshop mock-ups.
Original:

A kitchen with light brown wood cabinets and a white half island with dark countertop.

With the various tiles – in order of appearance above:

A mostly white kitchen with dark counters and floors.
White kitchen with white subway tiles.

Since our house is such a wreck, I’m trying to convince the husband to let me demo the backsplash now since we have no floors.  I really don’t want to have to do another demo for a LONG time!

What are your votes for the kitchen backsplash?  Any other great alternatives I haven’t thought of?
