Creating a cozy space in the office required a couple of chairs and the office side table.
I’m really wanting to wrap up the office makeover as quickly as possible. However, at the same time, I want to ensure that I love each and every piece in the room so I have to be cautious not to rush my decisions too quickly! And I’m totally known for my patience…
With the new furniture layout {my desk is closer to the courtyard door and the chairs have been moved in front of the front window} I want to create more of a sitting area with the chairs, as opposed to the two chairs I had sitting in separate corners previously.
I thought I wanted to bring in some lush gold accents to tie in with the desk pulls. I found this table at Overstock that I loved. But I did not want to drop $192 on a small side table.
I’ve check HomeGoods several times recently for a cheaper alternative, but nothing caught my eye.
I then ran to Target because I had seen a lot of great painted Target tables in blogland – using spray paint or Rub ‘N Buff. My local Target didn’t seem to have quite the variety of side tables though, and I quickly decided ANOTHER project for me to work on was probably not the best idea given that I have far too many unfinished projects as it is. So, I picked up this table at Target that already had the gold/brass-ish looking legs. The tray top seemed practical as well. It was $59.99 – a great price but once I got it home, it seemed a little too small and a little dorm roomish in this space.
Yesterday, I randomly ran to Garden Ridge over my lunch break. I typically only stop in twice a year because I find it is typically more of a “miss” than “hit” type store. However, I found a lot of great options that I thought would work in the room – some much more affordable in the $49-$79 range – and others I thought were really overpriced in the $169-$189 range.
But, I picked up this wood and metal industrial-looking combo. Although it was $20 more than the Target table {coming in at $79}, I feel like it looks much more expensive and the scale looks more appropriate with the chairs. The table is very Restoration Hardware-ish to me. Then I think I’ll incorporate some of the gold I wanted into an accessory or two I will add to the top of the table. I haven’t tried it yet, but I believe the whole table folds up flat – there are several hinges, hooks, etc. to keep it all put together. However, I thought it was really unstable when I first saw it but realized many of the hooks had been undone.
You can see the front right leg looks a little wonky – but I think the table is intended to bet turned with the X’s on the sides and that leg {along with the back right} are supposed to be flush against a wall. But I prefer the table turned this way and feel like that foot isn’t as noticeable in real life.
I’m going to try and wrap up some of the curtain panels today and hopefully we’ll get around to determining if the chandelier will work in here. I’m getting much closer to wrapping up this entire project and I can’t wait to see the end results!
