Office Inspiration Board

My office is the first room in our home that you seen when you walk in. And it needs a lot of work. We never had a truly defined office space in our last house so we don’t have the right furniture either. I feel like this room needs to make a great first impression and my beat-up Expedit desk isn’t quite cutting it.

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

So, this will be the next room I focus my attention on. As you can see, I want this room to have a very natural, serene feel to it because it is surrounded by nature on two sides.

Office Inspiration Board - Life On Virginia Street

Click the number  below to get more details on the items above:

1 – I want to trim out my off-white drapes like these in the photo – using the method much like I did here in our former bonus room. I bought the fabric shown in #4 on eBay on Sunday to make the modification  I plan to do the drapes not only on the front window but around the sliding doors as well.

2 – Thinking of carrying the Pale Silver paint into this room. Otherwise I may go with the Castle Path I used in the living room. Or Silver Sage and make it slightly darker than the entryway and hallway.

3 – I’m looking for a reasonably priced wood chandelier like this one {which is not reasonable at all}. The room is pre-wired for a chandelier {in addition to the four can lights} which makes my life easy.

4 – Kravet’s Windsor Smith Riad in Clove. I have loved this print for awhile and have the Seafoam colorway in our living room. I scored five yards on eBay for a steal. Retails for $149/yd and I got it for $25.

5 – I am using my Sussex Beige Linen Club Chairs in this room to make it feel a little more formal. Will add throw pillows like #6 and #7 to the chairs and other furniture in the room.

6 – Love this pillow combo {from etsy seller elegantouch}. Includes #4 as well as my beloved Betwixt in Aqua and #7 below. Perfection.

7 – I am OBSESSED with this fabric and have been for some time – Schumacher’s Avebury Vine – and I love the piping some sellers add to it on Etsy. I’ve decided this is the perfect room to use the fabric in because I think it will work well with all the outdoor views I have in this room. Not only is there a huge window facing our front-yard trees, but there is access to my courtyard on the opposite wall.

8 – This isn’t the type of furniture I’m looking for, but the layout is right. Thinking of possibly doing built-ins along the wall that is currently brown {see below} and then have a floating desk in the middle of the room.

As a reminder, here is the room {all from different days but I wanted you to see all angles}. The first shows the entryway and the office doors off to the left {also shows how necessary the trim/door painting is as well as the Pale Silver paint color listed above}.

The hardest part now is finding some affordable/stylish office furniture!

Thank you for such a fantastic blog. Where else could anyone get that kind of info written in such a perfect way? I have a presentation that I am presently working on, and I have been on the lookout for such information. Modular Office Furniture Mumbai

Good idea to bring the Pale Silver into your office- I think it’s much easier to work in a space that is bright and inspiring!

The white drapes were purchased from Overstock. The link and details for the product are in this post: http://www.lifeonvirginiastreet.com/2013/01/drapes-light.html – down the road I plan to add the Riad fabric as a trim accent. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thanks!

Thank you! I made it in Photoshop. I haven’t found anything else I really love so I make Photoshop work since I already had it.

Thank you! Unfortunately, our house was several years old when we bought it and they came with the house.
