After yesterday’s massive failure post, I thought about spray-painting the handles {also suggested by my husband and a blog reader}. But the truth is, I didn’t think it was really worth it for handles I don’t really love. I had found these handle alternatives a few weeks back, but they originally made me nervous {but I loved that they came in a ton of sizes, including the two I needed – 3.5″ and 5″ – as well as two finishes: gold and silver}. I know gold is becoming more “in” but I wasn’t sure it was really me. However, I think against the new gray finish on the desk it may work. I went ahead and ordered them, getting all eight pulls for less than twenty-five bucks. A total bargain when it comes to hardware {there were many sites I found where one pull alone was $25}. I felt like these were much too modern/sterile feeling in the silver finish but I sort of am loving how the gold works – especially in the brushed gold version.
Playing off the design board I made here, I am seeing how it all works together and I actually love the gold with the Avebury Vine Floral fabric I want so badly. It is still missing a few elements but is help keeping me focused on the overall plan when I want to buy something that doesn’t coordinate {regardless of how cute it may be}. I also added in the idea for the picture frame ledges.
With the handles ordered last night, I figured I could then resort to spray paint if I didn’t love them, and I’d still only be out around $30 total once I bought the spray paint. It wouldn’t have been such a rush {since I plan to work on the king bedroom next} if it weren’t for the fact the desk isn’t functional right now. It will be so nice to get some handles on and all my junk stored! Are you a fan of gold?

Funny, I chose the same handles for my kitchen island! Love the bling on my cabinets. Your office is coming along great Sarah!
