Christmas Party Tour of Homes: Life on Virginia Street

Christmas, Home Tour

Welcome to our Christmas home tour! I’ll be participating in another Christmas blog home tour in two weeks so I will reveal the second half of the tour then. But for now, step inside and enjoy the tour!
This is our first Christmas in our new {to us} home, and it has been so fun to change out this planter on our front porch with the changing seasons. I picked up the planter with the evergreens at Costco, added my three birch sticks and some ornaments and it was done in less than ten minutes!
Our entryway has three distinct areas so it makes decorating somewhat challenging. I did a {very} simple, pre-lit garland down the banister as you first walk in the door.
For the area that is directly opposite the staircases, I used a 3M hook to attach a small wreath to the existing mirror, helping to add Christmas cheer to this little nook.
Further down the hallway that leads to our courtyard and the living/kitchen/dining area, I simply added this ‘Oh My Deer’ print to the existing decor. In the mirror reflection, you can also see a glimpse of the Christmas trees I added to our courtyard {two of my favorite items this year}!
The courtyard at night just makes the whole house feel Christmas-y. I LOVE it! My husband has strict instructions to turn these on the second he gets home each night if he wants me to be happy when I get home from work {this is one of the first views you see when you come in from the garage}. The photos below are opposite the area in the entryway shown above. I love that the trees can be seen out the windows of the hallway {entryway}, dining room and my office. I bought each of the six foot trees at Walmart for $19.99 and strung them each with 300 lights {$2.50/100 also at Walmart). For $27.50 a tree, it was one of the best purchases I made this year!
This year in our living room, I stuck with our usual decor colors, using shades of blue and green and throwing in a little silver and gold. My ‘O Holy Night’ canvas from Lindsay Letters is one of my favorite items. Ever. I’ve contemplated several times leaving it out all year. Other than that, I kept the decor fairly simple, adding some garland swags some ornaments and a nativity scene.

Since the kitchen is openly connected to our living room and dining room {which were each decorated with different color schemes} I opted to stick with greenery and metallic colors in order to coordinate with both of the other rooms. I used a 3M hook over our range to attach the faux boxwood wreath so that I can easily remove it if I cook before Christmas. Which we know will never actually happen, so we’re good.

In the dining room, I stuck with a more traditional color scheme. I picked up the two plaid table runners at HomeGoods, the red velvet pillow covers from IKEA, and both reindeer from HomeGoods. I used another ‘Oh My Deer’ print, in a red Pottery Barn frame, to coordinate with the art in the entryway. I hung ornaments from the two main windows using wrapping ribbon and thumb tacks {tacked to the top of the window frames}.

My office is off of the front entryway and is home to our Christmas tree since it is the only front-facing window on our main floor. To coordinate with the existing decor, I used the same blue, green and metallic color-scheme I used in our living room. The wreaths on the courtyard doors were a semi-DIY project you can read more about here. And be sure to check back tomorrow for more details on the Christmas tree which will be revealed as part of the Blue Christmas Blog Hop!

The view above is what I see every night while I’m on the computer. The glow from the wreaths, courtyard trees and Christmas tree reflection makes me smile every.single.day.

Thanks for stopping by! As a reminder, I am part of another Christmas home tour in two weeks and I’ll show some additional areas that weren’t featured this week {mostly because I still haven’t finished decorating}. 😉 If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the other homes in this tour. Every single home is gorgeous and gave me a ton of inspiration for next year!
