I’m ready to paint our master bedroom and now that our shutters are installed. And surprisingly, I’m not leaning towards the Behr Castle Path that I have used in every room in our home except the dining room.
Here are the options I picked up today {all Behr Premium Plus Ultra paints/colors} – I’m wanting a mid-gray toned paint with bluish green undertones:
But, before I go any further and people start panicking about my darker color choices, let’s backtrack a little to what the room currently looks like:
{clearly the board and batten is in dire need of some white paint – particularly now that it is against the white shutters} |
Here’s what I’m thinking. This room is light and bright {but has gone slightly darker with the shutters}. But with the white board and batten on both the wall and the trayed ceiling as well as two sets of white french doors I think the room is begging for a little drama now. I will be adding curtain panels on either side of the large window in the fabric of the euro shams {Windsor Smith Pelagos in Mist} so that will also brighten the room further. But keep in mind when I say ‘white’ above, I mean cream that will eventually be painted white. The board and batten will be first because it is the most obvious at this point.
Which paint color is the front-runner? Atmospheric if you couldn’t guess by the title of this post. The first picture above is the most accurate of all the paint colors but here they are in the room.
{next to the shutters on the large window in the bedroom} |
{next to the bed upholstery which can sometimes look too wheat/tannish next to gray colors} |
{and a repeat of the first shot which is the best color representation of each chip} |
So, what do you think? Am I crazy? Particularly since I am a fan of the light and bright look? Do you have a favorite of the five paints shown above? Any other paint color suggestions? My one concern is that I can find very few pictures online of the colors above {with the exception of Fashion Gray and Classic Silver} so I haven’t seen how these look in real life rooms. I’ve likely ruled out Classic Silver (too light) and Antique Tin (too dark) but think they could still work. Is Atmospheric too blue? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I think Atmospheric is a great choice. I love that the dark walls will let all the lighter and brighter elements in the room stand out. Can’t wait to see it!

Looks great! We have the same (or very similar) bed and painted our bedroom Behr Ashes…it sort of looks like a lighter version of Atmospheric!

What color did you end up with? I have an opinion but you probably already painted since this looks like it was posted 2013….I’m habitually running late and end up missing all the fun! I’m sure it’s beautiful!

I did Atmospheric but it was a little too bold for my taste (although the color was really pretty!!) I ended up doing something totally different than I planned – Sherwin Williams’ Sea Salt!
