A Weekend of Painting

There is nothing better than a weekend of painting!

Canvases with various shades of blue.

By 12:30 on Friday, I had left the office, and headed to the paint store.  My goal for the weekend: paint the third bedroom.  My parents and brother + sister-in-law are coming to town for a wedding the first weekend in September and we need a second guest room quickly.  You may remember this room as our junk room or the husband’s office – the one room the cats couldn’t get into (thanks to the vacuum we had to constantly leave in front of the door so Hawkeye couldn’t open it).  However, when we had to clean it out for our hardwood install, we decided it was time to clean up the space for good.

Past lives of our junk room – this was at its worst – right before the hardwood floor was installed:

A room filled with various household items.

After hardwood installation and with the original paint – the flesh-toned nemesis I had always hated: A wall with flesh toned color paint on it.

And during the painting process.  I went with Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter – I had pretty much picked it out online without ever having seen a paint chip in real life.  I was worried it would be too light once it was in the paint pan:
Paint with a roller, and the contrast between the old paint and the new paint.
And the after – clearly with all the junk moved to the middle.  Most will be going to Goodwill shortly.  This paint is like a breath of fresh air for me!  I love the saturated color!  And it looks SO good with the hardwood floors.  It is actually much lighter and brighter than the original color – just bad timing on my part for the photos.
The room painted white with all the stuff in the middle of the room piled up.
Hopefully the next time you see this room it will be fully decorated and ready for our guests!

Today I decided to make use of the art canvases I had bought quite some time ago.  With the addition of some $.69 craft acrylic paint (like these), I went to work on my “masterpieces.”  The husband said he actually liked them better than some of the art in our house currently.  Well, that makes my life easy.  And cheap!

Art canvases being painted.

The finished art products {I was going for this vibe}.  I cranked out all four customized art pieces in a few hours – not bad!

As a side note, my computer died an untimely death Friday afternoon.  It allowed us to go to dinner at Mojo’s and try a new frozen yogurt place, Orange Leaf, since we had to go to The Mart. DELICIOUS!
