Happy Tuesday! I’m still in Vegas praying I can get home. Last night we were in dinner and got texts that our flights were cancelled thanks to the polar vortex. We were supposed to fly out tonight, but got word it may be Friday at the earliest before we get home. We’re hoping we can make something work to get us home sooner!
With that, I’m definitely ready for these frigid and scary temps to be gone and for spring to arrive! As I mentioned in last week’s 2019 Home Goals post, I’m simultaneously working on a few room makeovers. One of those spaces is a mini-refresh to our guest bedroom for early spring and I can’t wait to share it with you today!
This room has had it’s fair share of makeovers over the years. The core elements have always remained but I love to change things up seasonally. It’s come a long ways since the year we moved in!

And here is how the space looks today after a few more updates and upgrades from the last time you saw the space! You may recall I refreshed some of the basic bedding for the holidays and today I’m sharing how I’ve updated the room with a few seasonless changes!
Cane Bed | Pick-Stitch Tassel Quilt | Wood Bead Chandelier | Rattan Mirror | Navy Blue Pick-Stitch Euro Shams | Natural Lumbar Pillow | Topiary | Similar Lamp | Rug | Similar Roman Shades
This wood bead chandelier is one I have loved from afar for some time. It used to only come in a larger size, but as soon as they released this smaller version, I knew I needed it for this room! As you may have noticed over the past year or so, I’ve been slowly changing out the blingy crystal light fixtures in our home to options that work better with our overall more casual and beachy style. I love how the new fixture totally changes the vibe in this room!
I just picked up this pick-stitch tassel quilt, and quite honestly, I’m surprised it took me this long. I’ve loved it since it was released, and decided I finally needed to find a home for it! The combination of blue and white mixed with stripes and tassels is hard to beat!
The best part? It’s essentially two quilts in one since it reverses to this ticking stripe pattern!
In lieu of pairing it with the matching shams, I decided to use these versatile navy blue pick-stitched shams. I love that so many of Pottery Barn’s bedding lines are interchangeable and the colors still work well together. And clearly I’m loving the entire pick-stitched line right now! The best part? Most of their bedding is up to 40% off right now!
I then paired them with this pretty natural textured lumbar pillow that I used in our other guest bedroom all last summer. The rattan mirror is another item I used to use in our other guest bedroom, but I’m really loving it here. It totally changes the scale of everything in the room and warms up the white wall!
And at this point it should be fairly obvious that I have a serious obsession with Pottery Barn’s faux greenery options. This topiary is a bit of an investment, but is so life-like and essentially seasonless. Here you can also get a glimpse of the side-ties on the euro shams! Love! We still need to switch out the nightstand in here eventually since our DIY version has seen better days. But it’s been tough to find something that is narrow enough and looks good against the white wall and next to the wood-toned bed!
I also played around with this pretty art above the bed before ultimately deciding on the mirror. The art may be a fun option for the summer months though to add a punch of color!
I was having trouble convincing Kurtis to help me with getting the old 8×10 rug back under the bed after I made him help me move it out for Christmas. Thankfully, he was more willing to help with this 5×8 striped rug we had in the entryway last summer. It had gotten snagged in a few places but it works perfectly here because I could hide those flaws under the bed! And I love the addition of the stripes in here!
I love how the whole space has come together and to get a head start on some spring decorating! It’s always a fun room to change up a bit seasonally!
