Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend! First off, I want to thank all of you that took the time to comment on our summer home tour and/or our exterior paint reveal. I know big posts like those don’t come around super frequently, but the good news is, we should only be a few weeks out on the kitchen reveal!

Home Updates & Projects
Speaking of our kitchen, if you watch my Instagram stories, you know already it was a bit of a crazy week. Thursday night, most of or our kitchen got torn out, so I spent most of Wednesday and Thursday boxing up the contents of our cabinets and pantry. It always seems like it should go quickly, but you know how that goes. It was a good time to purge and set aside stuff for donations though!
Here’s how our kitchen currently looks. They’re coming tonight to tear out the remainder of the cabinets/countertops, and then to patch the drywall before the new cabinets go in. I’ve had a few people ask, and we’ll be donating out cabinets, countertops and several appliances to Habitat Restore. I wasn’t able to schedule a pick-up yet, since I don’t know the exact number of cabinets that will be salvageable, so I hope to get that scheduled after tonight’s work. I’ll then let you guys know when the scheduled pick-up day is, as I know a few people were possibly interested in buying them from Habitat.
With the chaos, our dining room and living room have become our new kitchen. It’s a bit of a challenge not having running water or a dishwasher, but outside of that, it’s been manageable so far. Although, I have no idea how people go through renovations where they don’t have a kitchen for a full month. We’re without water/dishwasher for only two weeks and after four days it’s felt insane! I’m planning to share a big kitchen update tomorrow – I’ve already seen photos of our new cabinets! Eek! I imagine I’ll be pretty active on my Instagram stories this week again since cabinets are tentatively going in on Wednesday!
Sunday morning Kurtis and I got up early Sunday morning for some house-sitting duties and then came home and trimmed some trees. I know it’s a weird time of year to do this, but some of our large trees on our back lot line had quickly gotten overgrown again. It was making it impossible to walk under them or mow around them. This is only about half of what we cut down! But it looks so much better now!
Around Town & For Fun
Monday night we had a crazy storm here in town. We actually got some rather large hail with hit, which always makes us cringe, given that we just had our roof replaced due to a bad hail storm last year. Thankfully we didn’t sustain any major damage. The sky after the storm was a bit crazy! Everything was just glowing orange and the sky looked so weird! Omaha hosts the College World Series this time every year, and it’s pretty much a given that we have crazy weather during it.
Wednesday evening, we had the bright idea to invite several families in our neighborhood to the pool on Saturday. Somehow, we totally forgot that we wouldn’t have a function kitchen. Oops! But the party went on, and we all had a total blast. I think we had people here for close to eight hours and it was the perfect day for the pool! The image below only shows about half of the people that came, so it was definitely a full house. We basically served mini bags of chips and drinks. Nothing else – because we didn’t have any way to serve it. We ended up ordering pizza around dinner time, so that worked out well!
Sunday we went out for Mexican for Father’s Day with Jill and Nick along with Jill’s mom and Zoe. I had to get a pic with Zoe since she was clearly on brand with the Life On Virginia Street style 😉 The funny part is, Jill was wearing a sundress with the mini blue and white stripes so Zoe basically matches us both perfectly. I’m wearing this striped tee which is still a favorite!
We were pretty lazy the rest of the day. I think the party wore us out!
Recent Buys & Sales
I have this ruffled racerback tee in three colors now and I love how light and breezy it is for summer. Especially with how crazy hot and humid it’s been around here lately. These linen tie-waist shorts have an elastic waist in back so they’re perfect for everyday outfits or as a bathing suit cover-up! I’m loving them both!

I’ve been wearing my waterproof Birkenstocks nearly every day around here, especially when I’m doing work outside. I found tons of colors/sizes/styles of the waterproof Birkenstocks, all priced at either $30 or $35! I’m thinking I need to snag another pair. They are crazy comfy and I love that I can just hose them off!
