This past weekend was awesome, and I pretty much feel like a domestic goddess now 😉 It’s also February first, which means it’s almost summer which means I’m instantly in a better mood. Anyone else feel this way?!
Thursday night, I met up with blogging buddies Amanda, Mandy and Jen near downtown Omaha for a floral arranging class at bou.quet. Â Amanda had seen a teaser for the class on Instagram and thought it sounded fun, so we all signed up.
We picked up a few tips, but overall the best part was getting together to talk and share some laughs!
Friday night, Mandy and I then had a cooking class at Creme de la Creme. I can’t even tell you how much fun this event was (and how much we learned)! We were with a group of five other ladies, along with Paula, the instructor, at her insanely gorgeous home. The event starts with wine and then prepping of all the ingredients for a full meal. The food was so ridiculously good. We made homemade Italian dressing, a salad, red sauce, pesto, bruschetta and the best meatballs I’ve ever had before. The class lasts about three hours, and we talked and laughed whole time – but learned so many helpful tips along the way. Mandy and I definitely plan to sign up again, and hope to go on a monthly basis from here on out.
I actually stole this “picture” of us from Mandy’s snapchat video she made of the event. The screen shot is of us mid-talk/laugh, but it works to document the night 😉
Here are some more shots from the night as well as a peek at Paula’s gorgeous home.
I’m in love with her unique pocket door to her pantry! Unfortunately I don’t have any source information on this door.
I highly recommend this class if you’re a local! Not only is it a total blast, but you learn so much and you get to eat some killer food. We all left with our own binders of notes recipes so we can (hopefully) recreate everything at home! We’re also going to beg Paula to let us shoot her entire home during the daylight hours so you can get a better sense of just how beautiful it is. These nighttime photos just don’t do it justice!
I ordered the Volcano Capri Blue Diffuser yesterday. As you may know, I’m completely obsessed with the candle (it was burning at Paula’s house too, so I knew it must be even cooler than I imagined). Over the holidays, my mom had my favorite Christmas scent (Thymes Frasier Fir) in a diffuser in the bathroom. I don’t know why I always thought diffusers were old-school, but it was hard to argue with the amazing scent (and the lack of worry about remembering to blow out a candle). So, when I realized the Volcano scent came in a diffuser, I was sold!
I finally took down our exterior Christmas decorations yesterday. Yeah, we were those neighbor this year. But at least I made it before February 1. And, in our defense, I actually unplugged them at least two weeks ago. And it’s been really cold. And, I’m just lazy 😉
I also started doing taxes, which left me completely depressed and leads me to my next topic.
When I was with Mandy on Friday, she told me about a local Facebook group where you could sell furniture (or anything, really) in the surrounding area (it’s the ‘Elkhorn Area Buy/Sell/Trade’ Facebook group for any of you locals that are interested. In my blog goals post, I talked about changing some of our rooms up so they work better for us (now that we actually know how we use them). So, yesterday I listed a few items.
First up, the linen chaise lounge in my craft room. In theory, I was going to use this to watch chick flicks when my husband was using our main TV and it was going to be my hideout area. In reality, we’ve had the chaise sitting in our upstairs hallway for the better part of six months because it got in the way when we were trying to use the craft room as our workout room. Multi-tasking room problems 😉 I listed it Sunday around lunch time and sold it and had it picked up by 8 that night! You can see more about all these items/sources in this post.
The other item I sold was the blue headboard I got from Overstock (you can read more about it and all the pillows in this post). It honestly was sold and picked up within about three hours of posting! You may remember, I no longer needed it after our recently guest bedroom refresh.
Lastly, I listed the leather bed from our other guest bedroom (the new reveal is next week!) along with an elliptical we haven’t used in who knows how many years. Hopefully we can get them sold as well! I’ll be honest – it’s been a bit addicting, and I want to keep looking for things to sell!
We’re supposed to be getting a blizzard tonight into early Wednesday morning. But, if the forecast predictions pan out anything like our past storms, it may actually be 75 degrees and sunny outside 😉 I’ll be back tomorrow to talk about my blog survey results, plans for the blog, and to announce the TWO gift card winners!

Sarah, loved this post and will keep the cooking class on the radar for future activities. Had to laugh at your weather comment we are hour west from Omaha and in the’ Blizzard Warning’ area. Actually, went out earlier, no coat, to take pictures ….before storm!! Agree, we in midwest never know from one day to next about the weather Just in case, have extra food on hand…………….

I love that you said “domestic goddess!” My bestie and I talk about our aspirations to be one as well. I also appreciate your Facebook group tip! I’m in purge mode for sure. Ebay works well for shippable things, but a FB groups like that may be a good option for large items! Thanks!
