I hope you all had an a amazing Thanksgiving weekend! My husband and I flew to Utah Tuesday morning (on the 6am flight – ugh) and came home late Saturday night (technically early Sunday morning around 1:45 am). We had such a great week with my family and it is always fun to go back and visit my hometown.
The first day we arrived, we went to the new Hunger Games movie followed by dinner at Twigs in Farmington. The sunset when we left was unreal!
We got in some fun shopping, spent time eating out, seeing family and overall just having a great time! Here’s our Thanksgiving tablescape at my parent’s house. We all helped install my mom’s new light and I couldn’t love it more! It’s actually the same as our entryway light but in the dark finish and the rectangular shape. The antique copper version is currently sold out, but here is the antique silver chandelier version if you want to check it out! So much cheaper than the Pottery Barn version.
She plans to paint the dining room walls in the coming weeks (likely to Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter) so I’ll take some more shots of the space next time I’m out there!
I also love my mom’s Thanksgiving pillow selection in her formal living room. Can you see where I get my love of decorating? 😉
My brother and sister-in-law came into town mid-Friday afternoon to spend the rest of the weekend with us. It happened to be my sister-in-law’s birthday on Thursday and my mom’s Saturday, so on Friday night we went out for a fun sushi dinner.
We didn’t do much Black Friday shopping (although my husband and I each bought $35 Fire HDs) but we did hit Pottery Barn at Trolley Square (one of the best I’ve ever been to) and stopped in to Alice Lane. So much inspiration in both of these beautiful stores!
A trip to Utah isn’t complete without spending time with the family puggles: Charlie (my parents’) and Honey (my brother and sister-in-law’s). It’s likely there are no two dogs spoiled more than these two girlies, but they really are the sweetest!
We also hit up the little shops on Main Street in my hometown (Bountiful) for Small Business Saturday. Main Street has so many cute little shops now that were never there when I lived in Utah. My mom, sister-in-law and I all ended up buying stuff at Touche, one of our favorite shops. They had my favorite Christmas scent burning throughout and there were so many fun items to check out! I loved their updated facade as well.
After a one hour delay, we flew out late Saturday night and got home about 1:45 this morning. We had an amazing trip and it is always wonderful to be with family on the holidays!
I’ve been a bit sluggish today but have had a lot to prepare for upcoming Christmas home tours (four total)! Â Thankfully, I also requested tomorrow off work as well.
Earlier today, I was stalking all of the sales online. There are so many things I think I need (I don’t) but so much I want to buy! I was so close to buying this red tartan bench. I’m fairly certain it requires no explanation as to why.
This morning, I mostly finished up our Christmas decor (I have my first Christmas home tour of the year on the blog tomorrow)! After the garland I ordered arrived with electrical plug-ins (it said it was battery operated), I ended up taking a stroll to the nursery around the corner from our house. I decided to go with fresh garland for the first time ever! I ended up buying these lights in Utah so I’ll be finishing up the garland and lights on Monday. Here’s an in-progress shot of how things were looking mid-way. It already looks so different, and I can’t wait to share it with you tomorrow!
Sunday night, we kicked off our #YourHomeStyle challenge on Instagram again, and this week we are looking for Christmas tree inspiration! Simply search the hashtag on Instagram for load of inspiration, and if you want to link up, follow the instructions in this post.

Have fun! ;-). I did the same thing on our staircases yesterday and I spent 2 hours cleaning and vacuuming up all the needles today! I think once you have real garland and wreaths, it is really hard to go back to artificial–even despite the huge mess! I have been debating adding lights– looking forward to seeing how yours turns out with the copper wire lights.
