I then used a similar technique as here, here and here to make a flower out of t-shirt material left over from when I made this shirt {remember, if you try these projects go to Old Navy or somewhere similar and buy their size XXL t-shirts that are on clearance – it gives you the most fabric for your money – or use some old t-shirts you have lying around}.
I cut out a two inch felt circle twice and hot-glued it together {to give the backing some substance}. I then used three inch circles {maybe 12?} of the t-shirt material and folder them in half three times {so it would be 1/8 of a circle pie shape}. I then sewed the pieces to the felt in a random order to create the flower blooms. I am going to put a pin on the back of the felt so that this can be used for a shirt, pillow, headband, flip-flops, purse, etc. Really anywhere. I will likely make a few more smaller ones in different colors to be worn separately or clumped together with this one.
Starting:
After one petal is sewn down:
Four petals in:
Finished! Thankfully no glue guns are required for this one {although I did manage to stab myself with the needle – luckily none of the spurting blood got on the flower!}

I love using old tshirts for new things. It turned out great. I’ve yet to try rosettes but they are cute. I may have to make this necklace. Thanks for sharing.

Would I make larger circles for a bigger flower or just more of the smaller sized circles? Newbie but I need a BIG flower to cover something! 🙂 Thanks!
