I love the look of herringbone hardwood floors, and here I will share some eye catching floor pictures!
I’ve had good intentions of posting highlights from our trip to Europe, but obviously it just hasn’t happened yet. However, today I thought I would share some fun inspiration in the form of herringbone {or even chevron} hardwood floors!
Prior to heading to Europe, it had occurred to me multiple times that I would like to rip the carpet out of my office and replace it with stylish hardwood. But rather than try to find a good match for the hardwood on the remainder of our main level, I thought it would be fun to change up the hardwood a bit. More specifically, with lighter herringbone hardwood.
In Europe, I found examples at multiple hotels we stayed at! I considered it a sign.

Following is some additional stunning inspiration I have collected over the years on my Tile and Flooring board on Pinterest:

I love the look when it is slightly distressed and faded like the last image above – especially when the stain has a slight gray to it. So pretty and I think it would be perfect in my office – perhaps bring a little bit of European charm to little old Nebraska.
My husband thinks it’s trendy and that I would grow tired of the pattern, but it is also a style that has been around a long time. In such a small room and I think the little does of pattern could be amazing. What about you? Is this a style you could love for coming decades?

It would look amazing. I think a herringbone pattern is very timeless and traditional when using materials like wood, tile, or brick. And very trendy when using fabric or rugs. What species of wood would you use? Do you like the wood look plank tiles?

I would! The only drawback is bigger cost. When I renovated my kitchen I talked to my floor guy about this pattern, and because of the size of the planks, it would be more difficult they said because they would do more cuts and use more planks. But I guess for a smaller room the cost wouldn’t be much of a factor. Go for it Sarah!

Can’t get enough herringbone! We did it in our bathroom and now I want it all over the house. I say go for it! 🙂
