A week or two back, we purchased a new console table for our entryway on Overstock – the Safavieh Simon Natural Console Table. It was something both my husband and I agreed upon {a rarity}. Although it’s nearly identical in size to the piece we currently have, it is much more open and light feeling because of the metal legs – and we love the overall shape and feel. However, when we got the table, we both felt like the top is bit too pine-y looking. So, we’re at a crossroads. Do we paint it {I’ve read a lot of great things about Annie Sloan chalk paint and am thinking about a dark gray}, stain it another color {a more washed out gray tone} or leave it as is?
These photos aren’t the exact angle, but help to demonstrate the weightiness of the prior piece and how much more open and light the new table is.
Once we decide which path to go down it will be fun to style the table and add a mirror or artwork above it {still contemplating how to handle the other side of the doorway, which is about 20″ less wide}. And maybe someday I’ll get around to painting the rest of the entryway.
So, what is your advice? Paint, stain or leave the same – or something entirely different?

I love it just the way it is!

I like it the way it is, but I also think a rich, dark stain would
be gorgeous too!
