I am sharing with you my DIY plans with Annie Sloan chalk paint and an office desk!
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably figured I was up to something when I posted about these two items:
Here’s the back-story. I decided to move forward with some chalk paint {after researching here} – but it wasn’t to paint the entryway table. I am finally getting around to making over this piece of furniture. At lunch I made the trek to the one store in all of Omaha that carries the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint {I went with the French Linen color and also picked up the clear wax}. So, that DIY project will start tomorrow!
As I was dreaming about the project once I got back to the office, in the far corners of my mind I remembered that there was an extra L-shaped wooden desk in our office that I had agreed to take two plus years ago {for free!}. Â It still sits on our back storage dock at the office collecting dust. So….the wheels started turning. If this whole DIY chalk paint thing works out with the upstairs hallway table, I plan to bring this large desk home with me and use it for the office! Assuming we can lift it…this bad boy is SOLID! I already have plans to pull off the decorative trim and add my own. And paint it. And FINALLY get around to adding some style to the office which is the first room you see when you walk in our house {it luckily got a fresh coat of paint over the weekend}.
Anyone have experience with chalk paint? Any last minute tips/tricks/advice on how to paint with chalk paint?

I found and bought this exact desk at salvation army (it’s made by kimball). It is a BEAST to move and there is a lot of surface area to paint. I took off the molding and painted it black, but I think it will look even better with the light chalk paint!

LOVE this!!! Did you use a brush to paint the desk? If you used a brush what kind did you use?

Yes, I actually used a really cheap chip brush. If I had to do it again, I would likely use a higher quality one so the brush strokes aren’t quite so noticeable!
