My husband left yesterday morning to Miami for the national championship game. In my boredom, I decided to start painting the living room.  Two weekends ago we had bought two gallons of Behr Castle Path paint {last used in our old master bedroom}. My friend Amy had recommended it to me years ago, and it is still one of my favorite neutrals out there. Here are some progress shots – it’s quite a bit lighter than the existing paint color {which also happens to be flat, ugh}. Castle Path is quite the chameleon because in some places, it looks like the Restoration Hardware Slate I used in the dining room, but it is nowhere near as dark.
This picture makes the change rather dramatic – and honestly, the Castle Path does not look this gray at all {this photo makes it look like the dining room color}, but I think it goes to show how fleshy/pink the original color is:
I hope to wrap it all up next weekend {my first coat was limited because I needed help moving furniture}. I’ll post updates soon! And yes, I know that our coffee table isn’t centered in the room. I need help moving that as well.

Love the color…considering using it for the main color in our new house too! Also love the entry light you picked out in the previous post.

Love your home 🙂 I found you through Autumn’s blog. I worked with her on our dining room and living room just a month or so ago. She is fabulous!!

Looks fantastic! I am so going to check out that colour for myself, I’ve been looking for something similar for our open concept main floor. Thank you!

I also found your blog through Autumn’s. I’ve been searching for pillows like you have on your sofas. The green and blue ones. Where did you get them or the fabric? Autumn did my living room last year. She’s awesome

You have a beautiful home Sarah. I love reading your posts. But one question: where do you put all of your tv components!?? Your dvd player, cable box, etc.
Sarah S says
Thank you so much! Unfortunately, our cable box and XBox (which is our DVD player) are sitting on the floor under the window behind the couch on the left – it’s the only way my husband can get his remotes to work. The home was wired to have the wires all behind the wall, but our stand to hold the components doesn’t fit over by the windows {and I’m not eager to drill a hole in the back of it to make it work}. Luckily, with the layout, I’m not sure anyone ever sees them on the floor. I’m seriously considering investing in some of those laser ‘eyes’ that allow remotes to work without a direct line of site so that we can hide all of the components!

Hi Sarah! Your home is absolutely gorgeous! Do you mind sharing where your curtains/shades in the living room are from? Thanks! 🙂 Sarah

I just wanted to say thank you. Your pictures of your finished rooms helped me decide on Castle Path for our home. I painted all the halls and main living areas this color. It really does look almost silver in bright light and a warm taupe with a hint of green undertones at night. I went one color up on the paint card for our kitchen. It all looks wonderful together, and our home has a wonderful “sanctuary” feel to it now.

Sarah.
I love the sofas. Can you tell me the style name and where purchased? Thanks!
Sarah says
Thank you! We purchased them at Nebraska Furniture Mart, but they are the Bernhardt Whitfield Sofa so if you aren’t local I’m sure you could order them from anyone that carries Bernhardt!
