I have a serious love of stripes, so I have put together some inspiration!
I think a lot of people are wondering why we are moving – especially those that know us well. We had finally made progress on our current home to make it “us” and had put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into each project we worked on. But, that was one of the problems – most of our rooms were “done.” Â The truth is, I enjoy the planning and the process and the projects {I can’t say the husband agrees entirely on this point}. But I really do enjoy transforming rooms. I always love how a simple bucket of paint can totally change a space. I get a lot of grief about the number of times certain rooms in my house have been painted – and the fact that square footage has literally been lost because of it. Â But I truly enjoy each change. And I am REALLY excited about all the work and projects and transformations that lay ahead for us at the new house come the first of the year – even if many projects will be several years out. Call it a minor case of ADD, but I always have to be doing SOMETHING and there are few things more important to me than the spaces we spend the majority of our lives in, creating memories in. So, while the house we are moving to is already incredible, I can’t wait to slowly make simple updates {as simple as paint} that make our home that much more of our haven from the rest of the world.
Striped Walls
So, as I mentally decorate our new house prior to the actual move-in, I know I want to incorporate striped walls in at least one room. Â Sure, they are a Pain.In.The.Butt to complete, but once complete, they are amazing and I love looking at them every time I pass by a room with stripes. One look in my closet and you would quickly know I have a stripe obsessions. I am still in love with our current master bedroom wall {one of the only rooms in our ENTIRE house that has only been painted once} so I know this will be a safe move forward:
However, because of the board + batten and windows above the bed in our new home, I know the stripes won’t work in our new master.
At one point I had contemplated a striped laundry room in our current home using this photo as inspiration:
I’m thinking the laundry room in our new house may be the answer. Or one of the guest rooms. Perhaps one of the bathrooms. Or the front room {which will likely be my blogging/computer room}. So many choices! And now for some never before seen photos of our new house – what will be our guest bedrooms {currently they are the girls’ rooms for the current owners}. Both rooms have walk-in closets and full bathrooms {bath to the second bathroom shown – the bath to the first is a Jack & Jill so it is actually bigger and has a bathtub/shower but I don’t have a photo}. So even the closet walls may be fun to stripe out.
Also shown, the current state of the laundry room. Because of the amount of open wall space, the stripes may be really fun in here too. And with the dark brown counter top a more dramatic brown + white stripe may be fun {see last inspiration photo below}.
It may even be fun to do the upstairs hallway because the open wall space is huge. The first inspiration photo below may be perfect for solving the problem with these bland walls.

And perhaps one of the most amazing of all – striped tile!
Are you over the striped wall trend? I honestly think it is something I may never tire of given my love of stripes. Just need to decide which room{s} it makes the most sense in. No matter what, I know I will have fun in the planning process and with the final results!
